On July 5th, WVS held a groundbreaking ceremony for the future home of Winona Volunteer Services. This is an incredible milestone in WVS’s 50 year history. Sandra Burke, Executive Director said “We are actually building a facility that is designed for our needs and puts all our services under one roof. We are able to embark on building a home for WVS because of our organizational growth throughout the years and the impact our services have had on those in need.”

Special acknowledgements went to:

  • Wieser Brothers and OWA Architects for taking a design idea and making it come to life,
  • Fundraising mentor, Laura Eddy, for her reassurance and inspiration to conduct a capital campaign,
  • To all the “Quiet Phase” donors who pledged $3,833,000,
  • To the past and current WVS board of directors for their patience, insights and expertise for making this day possible and for seeing this build to completion,
  • To all the WVS volunteers throughout the years for their commitment and energy to serve others, and
  • To the WVS staff for their commitment to this journey and unwavering dedication to their work.
