Groceries on the Go

Groceries on the Go

Groceries on the Go is a new program offered by Winona Volunteer Services whereby we bring food to your home. This free delivery service is for Winona seniors who cannot get to the food shelf and have no one to shop for them. Food boxes are prepared based on what is available in the food shelf.

Who is eligible?
  • Age 65 & over with mobility issues or be a NAPS recipient
  • Living alone or with no one able to come to the food shelf for them
  • Able to cook and use the food for themselves
  • Have income of less than 300% of Federal Poverty guidelines
  • At home on scheduled delivery day
  • Reside in the city limits of Winona or Goodview
What does it cost?

This is a free service and there is no charge for the food.

What kind of food is delivered?

We will deliver frozen meat, fresh produce, dairy, eggs, bread and non-perishables. Specific dietary needs can be discussed with the Nutrition Educator.

When does the food come?

Volunteers deliver food boxes once a month. Your specific delivery day & time will be determined after approval for the program.

What do I do if I’m interested?

Email info@winonavs.org or call the Nutrition Educator at 507.452.5591.

What if I’m under 65 but meet all other criteria?

Call the Nutrition Educator and discuss your situation. We may ask for a referral from your healthcare professional or other established provider.

Can I still come to the food shelf if I sign up for the delivery service?

No. If you can come to the food shelf, you do not qualify for this program.

What if something comes up and I will not be home on the delivery date?

Call the Nutrition Educator to discuss canceling and/or rescheduling your delivery at least 48 hours before your scheduled delivery date.

Can I change my delivery date from month to month?

No. Once we have established your delivery date, it is your responsibility to be home to receive the food or cancel 48 hours ahead of time.
